Airtelis orders three H215s for aerial work.

London, UK, 04 October 2017 – Airtelis, with the support of Nova Capital Group, has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters for the purchase of three H215 heavy helicopters, including two options.

These aircraft will complement Airtelis’ existing fleet of two H225s. The first delivery is planned for later this month. A variant of the Super Puma family, the H215 will be equipped for aerial work operations in support of Airtelis’ power line construction and maintenance missions. “We are pleased to be adding a new member of Airbus Helicopters’ Super Puma family to our fleet” said Stephane Delaye, CEO of Airtelis. “The H215’s load capacity, cost-effectiveness and OEI performance are ideal for the highly technical aerial work missions that we perform” he added. Airtelis carries out helicopter maintenance work on high and very high voltage power lines as well as on big infrastructures, load transportation, structure assembly, repair and maintenance. With over 60 years of experience performing utility helicopter missions, Airtelis has developed a specific expertise and solutions and provides its customers with the highest safety and productivity levels available. Their experience is at the service of power grid operators and their contractors.

Airbus Helicopters and Southern Vietnam Helicopter Corporation celebrate 30 years of collaboration.

London, 4 October 2017 – Airbus Helicopters has presented VNH South with an award celebrating its 30 years of flying Airbus helicopters in offshore missions. “We are honoured to recognize VNH South for their dedication and to highlight our
longstanding partnership,” said Guillaume Faury, President and CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “They have placed their trust in a variety of our helicopters for more than three decades, and we commend their unwavering commitment not only to their operations but to the entire oil & gas community.”
VNH South became Vietnam’s very first helicopter operator when it began in 1986 with a Puma. Its reputation began to grow, particularly within Vietnam’s burgeoning oil & gas industry, and the company is now one of the leading helicopter service providers in South East Asia, operating four AS332 L2s, two H155s, and four H225s.
“Airbus Helicopters and VNH South have always worked closely together to support safe and continued offshore operations in our region, and we are pleased to celebrate this milestone,” said Capt. Chief among VNHS’s achievements is 30 years of safety in offshore oil and gas flights, accumulating more than 270,000 flight hours, many of which aboard their H225 fleet. “VNHS flies to offshore installations located 200 to 240 nautical miles from the base,” explained Capt. Hung. “The H225’s payload is good, especially for long distances and the hot climate. Our pilots consider it a user-friendly machine.” Initially based at Vung Tau Airport, VNHS has expanded its activities to three additional bases and multiple mission segments, including aerial survey and photography services, medical evacuation and search and rescue (SAR) services, as well as fire-fighting and sling load work.
VNHS is closely supported by Airbus, which provides the operator with technical assistance, customer support and maintenance services, both on-site and at Airbus’ customer centres in the region.

Royal Thai Police becomes first H175 operator in Asia Pacific.

London, 3 October 2017 – The Royal Thai Police has received two H175 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters, making it the first in Asia Pacific to operate the newest rotorcraft.
The Royal Thai Police will be using this super medium aircraft, equipped with the latest aircraft technology and capabilities, for VVIP transportation and various police missions.
“We welcome the Royal Thai Police as the inaugural H175 operator for this region and we are grateful for their continued trust in our products as they expand their fleet. We have full confidence of the H175’s performance and capabilities, in fulfilling its most challenging missions. The Royal Thai Police currently operates nine Airbus helicopters, comprising five H155, two AS365 N3+ and two H175.
More than 15 H175 helicopters have flown about 12,000 hours globally today. With an excellent payload for both short and long range missions, the H175 has a maximum take-off weight of nearly eight tonnes and is designed to provide unmatched efficiency across a variety of missions, including utility, law enforcement, VIP transport, oil and gas, as well as search and rescue. Equipped with Helionix, Airbus Helicopters’ integrated suite of advanced avionics and 4-axis autopilot, the H175 offers enhanced situational awareness and improved operational safety by helping to reduce pilot workload and increasing mission flexibility. AW169 TO SUPPORT CHINESE POLAR SCIENTIFIC EXPLORATION MISSIONS.

  • The Polar Research Institute of China ordered an AW169 helicopter with delivery in early 2019
  • The aircraft will be performing passenger transport, iceberg sighting, and cargo sling missions in the extreme environments of the Arctic and Antarctic Regions
  • Almost 200 helicopters of Leonardo sold to Chinese customers to date

Leonardo announced today that the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC) has purchased an AgustaWestland AW169 light intermediate helicopter. The aircraft, which is planned to be delivered in early 2019, will be provided with a dedicated configuration to support Chinese Polar Scientific Exploration Tasks and perform a range of roles including passenger transport, iceberg sighting, and cargo sling operations.

The contract was signed in the framework of the PRIC’s New Ice Breaker Ship-borne Helicopter Acquisition. TheAW169 will be carrying out missions from the new ice breaker and close to the Chinese Polar Stations in the South and North Poles.

The AW169 was selected thanks to its outstanding performance in demanding environmental conditions and state-of-the-art technologies such as touch-screen display, APU mode and Adaptive Variable Speed Rotor. This latest order marks a further success in the global market for the type providing further evidence of its design versatility. The presence of Leonardo in China grows stronger with almost 200 helicopters sold to Chinese customers to date for commercial and public services. The growing fleet is supported by an increased customer support presence, recently enhanced by the opening of a major warehouse facility in Shanghai.

AW169 OBTAINS FIRST DANISH ORDER AND ENTERS UK’S WIND FARM SUPPORT MARKET.

  • Uni-Fly A/S of Denmark has ordered two AW169s

Leonardo announced today the signing of a contract with Uni-Fly A/S of Denmark for two AgustaWestland AW169 light intermediate twin engine helicopters. The aircraft will enter service in the first quarter of 2018 to perform wind farm support operations for DONG Energy at Hornsea Project One, in the North Sea, 120km offshore from Humberside, UK.

The order marks the first contract for the AW169 model in Denmark as well as the first AW169s to be used to support wind farm duties in UK, following successful operations carried out in the North Sea for other customers in Europe. These helicopters will feature a specially customised configuration including a dedicated offshore interior and rescue hoist to support maintenance personnel working on the wind turbines. Uni-Fly A/S and DONG Energy will perform a quantum leap forward in capabilities due to the high performance and the latest generation technology and safety standards of the AW169 – making it the most advanced helicopter in its weight category today. In Europe theAW169 has already proven successful in other key markets including emergency medical service, corporate transport, harbor pilot shuttle and law enforcement.
