STAT MedEvac to be first U.S. air medical transport service provider to operate Helionix-equipped H135s.

• Pennsylvania operator to take delivery of helicopters with new safety enhancing technology in fourth quarter 2017

Dallas, Texas, March 7, 2017 – STAT MedEvac will soon be the first air medical transport service in North America to operate Airbus H135 helicopters equipped with Helionix, an innovative and powerful avionics system.
The Pennsylvania-based critical care transport team has placed orders with Airbus Helicopters Inc. for three new H135s to replace older aircraft in its fleet, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017. The Airbus developed Helionix system, an advanced avionics suite that increases mission flexibility and enhances flight safety, will be standard equipment on new production H135s. Comprised of two computers and a one-of-a-kind cockpit layout, Helionix includes up to four electronic displays designed to improve pilots’ situational awareness. The system provides a four-axis autopilot to reduce pilot workload and a Traffic Advisory System that improves safety by assisting pilots in detecting and avoiding other aircraft.

Waypoint Leasing to bolster fleet with 16 new Airbus helicopters Comprising H145, H135, and for the first time, the H175.

Dallas, Texas, 7 March 2017, – Airbus Helicopters and Waypoint Leasing (Ireland) Limited, the largest independent global helicopter leasing company, announced today that Waypoint has committed to acquiring an additional 16 Airbus rotorcraft, adding to their fleet of more than 140 aircraft, 45 of which are manufactured by Airbus Helicopters.
The agreement, for more than € 100 million, covers the purchase of 16 aircraft including supplementary H135s and H145s and adding the H175 for the first time to Waypoint’s fleet. Waypoint will primarily lease the H135s and H145s to operators performing EMS and utility missions worldwide, while the H175 will be available for oil and gas, search and rescue and public service missions. Prior to today’s announcement, Waypoint had firm commitments for 26 H135s and H145 from Airbus.
“We are pleased to be growing our fleet with 16 new Airbus helicopters, including the H175, a cost-effective and reliable helicopter,” said Ed Washecka, Chief Executive Officer of Waypoint Leasing. “We are beginning to see sustained demand for heavy aircraft in the market, while at the same time recognizing and responding to the growing demand for interest in ‘Super Medium’ aircraft that are well-suited for a wide range of missions,” he added.


After successfully introducing new H135s and H145s to the leasing market, Waypoint is now extending their initial contract, capitalizing on an industrial relationship to continue providing the market with flexible lease solutions.

The H175 offers excellent payload for short and long range missions, contributing to high annual productivity for operators. This, combined with low operating and maintenance costs and high availability, means superior cost effectiveness for customers. Compact in size, the H145’s large and flexible cabin reconfiguration and powerful engines make it the aircraft of choice for a variety of civil missions and an ideal choice for lessors. The H135’s operational scope includes: law enforcement, emergency medical services, VIP and business passenger transport, and the maintenance of industrial wind parks. Its mature design makes maintenance fast and easy, ensuring optimal dispatch reliability and lower operating costs and thus making it one of the lowest cost twin-engine helicopters to operate.

H175 performance further enhanced with 7.8t extended MTOW.

Dallas, Texas, 7 March 2017 – With 12 H175 now in operation and demonstrating the performance and reliability of the aircraft worldwide, the medium twin-engine helicopter continues to be enhanced in order to bring more value to operators. Among the programme milestones recently reached is the certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) extension from 7,500 kg to 7,800 kg, allowing customers to benefit from an additional payload of 300 kg or an extra 40NM radius of action. The extended MTOW provides increased operational flexibility, particularly in highly demanding oil and gas operations. The MTOW extension is available at no extra cost to the customers and only requires an update of the flight and maintenance manuals. The first H175s benefitting from this upgrade are already flying operational missions in the North Sea. Meanwhile, the H175’s ability to fly in limited icing conditions has also been certified by EASA, ensuring the helicopter is able to operate in the challenging weather conditions encountered in environments such as the North Sea. Certification for snow operations was also granted at the end of 2016. Additionally, oil and gas H175 operators will soon benefit from automated approaches to oil rigs, along with a sand filter that will be essential for operations in the Middle-East. In parallel to these development efforts, certification has also been granted in Russia, Mexico and Australia, paving the way to the entry into service of the H175 aircraft in new regions. Certification in the United States, Malaysia, Canada and Brazil will follow.
With the oil and gas and VIP configurations now in service, Airbus Helicopters is focused on the development of the Public Services version of the H175, prior to the first delivery later this year to launch customer Hong Kong Government Flying Services. This new variant opens the H175 mission set to operations such as search and rescue, emergency medical services, law enforcement, firefighting and border security. The H175 has so far been in operation for offshore transport in 3 continents where it has been praised by the crews by its outstanding performance and reliability well as for the passengers for the visibility, comfort and low sound and vibration levels. In particular, the H175 has accumulated experience in Aberdeen (Scotland), Den Helder (Netherlands), Esbjerg (Denmark) and Takoradi (Ghana) with launch customer NHV — who has recently announced reaching the 10,000 flight hours milestone — and also in the Gulf of Mexico with Pegaso. Since February this year, the H175 has also been flying offshore in Aberdeen with Babcock Mission Critical Services.

Dallas, 7 March 2017 – The AgustaWestland AW139 and AW169 continue to be selected as preferred platforms by discerning corporate and VIP customers, with additional sales of both types accelerating in early 2017.
An AW169 has been sold to a US corporate customer just as the company has recently achieved FAA certification of the type, with another sold to a Mexican customer, and three additional AW169s sold to two different customers in Brasil. A further sale of an AW139 to a US corporate customer now increases the total of the type operating within the corporate and VIP segment in
North America to more than 25. The new generation AW169 meets corporate customer preferences and features innovative safety characteristics. As with all of the company’s VIP configured aircraft, the AW169 features comfortable interiors, a high capacity baggage compartment, engineering improvements to lessen cabin noise and vibration, and proper climate control in all operating environments. With the first two AW169s recently entering into service in South America, in Brazil and Argentina, two service and support centers in the region, AgustaWestland do Brasil and Helipark, have recently been certified to provide support to the AW169. This includes periodic airframe maintenance inspections on all AW169 helicopters, in addition to the AW109s, AW119s, and AW139s currently in service in the region, as well as after-market airframe and warranty support.

Aersud Elicotteri signs for two H125 and celebrates the 200th Ecureuil H125 in Italia.

Dallas, 9 March 2017 – Aersud Elicotteri, Airbus Helicopters’ distributor for Italy, signed a contract for the purchase of two H125 rotorcrafts during the HAI Heli-Expo air show in Dallas, Texas.
On March 8, 2017, Aersud Elicotteri, Airbus Helicopters’ distributor for Italy, signed a contract for the purchase of two H125 rotorcrafts during the HAI Heli-Expo air show in Dallas, Texas. These helicopters will be tasked for aerial work missions and the deliveries are scheduled for early 2018.
With this order, Aersud Elicotteri celebrates the 200th Ecureuil H125 in Italy, a major milestone in the deployment of this helicopter in the country.
“Today’s agreement significantly proves our confidence in the future and reaffirms the relationship of trust we have built up over more than three decades with Italian operators,” said Riccardo Aichner, President of Aersud. “This 200th Ecureuil in Italy, which we are now celebrating, comes with our commitment to provide our customers with the best solutions to meet their growing needs.”

Bell Helicopter Delivers First Bell 505 Jet Ranger X.

The new aircraft was on prominent display in Bell Helicopter’s booth at Heli-Expo 2017 HAI HELI-EXPO 2017 – Dallas, TX (March 7, 2017) Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today the first delivery of the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X. The aircraft was delivered to private operator Scott Urschel, who is based in Chandler, Arizona, and owner of Pylon Aviation. Bell Helicopter and Mr. Urschel commemorated this milestone in the Bell Helicopter booth at Heli-Expo 2017. “I could not be more pleased to receive the first Bell 505 and put the aircraft into service,” said Urschel. “I have been part of the Bell 505 program from the very beginning and have been anticipating this moment. After experiencing the aircraft first hand, I could not believe the power and performance capabilities for an aircraft in this class.” Urschel was part of Bell Helicopter’s Customer Advisory Council (CAC) that was directly involved in advising on the design of the Bell 505. The CAC guided specifications and capabilities that were integrated into the platform to fit a diverse set of mission needs. This first Bell 505 is configured for utility operations and will perform in various mission sets to include charter, tourism and utility.

HELI-EXPO 2017 – Dallas, TX (March 7, 2017) Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, unveiled today its vision for the future of rotorcraft – the FCX-001.

This is Bell Helicopter’s first concept aircraft and presents a 3-D roadmap for delivering safer, smarter and more efficient rotorcraft solutions.

“For the past 80 years, Bell Helicopter has imagined the art of the possible and brought those dreams to life,” Bell Helicopter’s President and CEO Mitch Snyder said during the opening ceremony at the HAI Heli-Expo. “Six months ago we created a dedicated team to focus on emerging technologies and how we could incorporate them into our products. Among that team’s first tasks was to display visually the technologies and innovations that present a roadmap that we envision bringing to market.”

Bell Helicopter formed a core group of engineers and a team of graphic designers that proved to be a highly collaborative team of problem solvers. It was through this process that the FCX-001, a concept aircraft, came to light to physically demonstrate a new way of thinking.

The concept aircraft was built to address the evolving demands of our customers and demonstrate key technologies that revolutionize the pilot and passenger experience, including:

A new anti-torque system in the tail boom designed to change the safety, noise and performance parameters of vertical lift aircraft forever. Hybridized propulsion combines advanced thermal engine cores for the main propulsion with, for example, electric distribution and motors to drive the anti-torque system for more control and simpler vehicle operations and maintenance. An airframe that is made from advanced sustainable materials to provide structural performance and offer configurations that our customers desire. In order to provide enhanced situational awareness, visibility and room, we are exploring the right combination of material and geometry. The airframe is also our front line for energy management where we harvest, store, attenuate and distribute external energy or system energy not already employed for useful work on the air vehicle. A landing gear with non-traditional geometries that facilitate function when combined with advanced materials and actuation. Morphing rotor blades that allow aircraft to optimize performance in different flight regimes.
A single pilot seat and an entirely new flight deck experience with the pilot controlling the aircraft through augmented reality and an artificial intelligence computer assistance system. A highly modular passenger cabin enhanced with the same augmented reality technology for individualized infotainment to catch up on world news, hold a video conference call, share documents with other passengers or simply watch a movie or play music to relax. “Being a pioneer in the aircraft industry is in our DNA and we want to share this renewed passion with the world. The FCX-001 points the way for our future – a renewed focus on innovative solutions and technologies. Priority 1 Air Rescue debuts Helicopter Hoist Rescue SAR Training Simulator at Heli-Expo 2017.

Priority 1 Air Rescue (P1AR) will be demonstrating an operational model of their Virtual Hoist SAR simulator at booth #2417 during the 2017 Helicopter Association International Heli Expo in Dallas March 7th through the 9th.  P1AR created this smaller transportable version of their Virtual Hoist Simulator specifically for Heli-Expo 2017 to present its advanced mission training capabilities and provide a compact replica of the synthetic devices that are currently employed at Search and Rescue Tactical Training Academies (SART/TAC) located in Mesa, Arizona and Nimes-Garons, France.

“A number of our customers tell us that we should be doing more to inform the SAR community and promote how we integrate our standardized hoist mission training programs and optimise safety by employing our virtual hoist simulators, so we listened”, stated Brad Matheson President of Priority 1 Air Rescue. “As we have operational SAR crews out there performing actual rescue missions, we genuinely understand the array of challenges end users face, and consequently, how to create the most effective, safe, and high cost saving solution. Airbus Helicopters showcases H135 Helionix at Heli-Expo alongside the ever popular H145 and H130.

Marignane, France, 1st March 2017 – Airbus Helicopters will be highlighting its wide range of products and services at this year’s Heli-Expo, 7- 9 March at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, TX, with a lineup of three of its best-selling aircraft, including the H130 in a VIP configuration; the H145 in a public services configuration and the recently certified H135 equipped with the state-of-the-art Helionix digital avionics suite. This H135 will embark on a demo tour of the U.S. and Mexico after the show.
