LCI AW139 TRANSITIONS ACROSS CONTINENTS, CUSTOMERS AND ROLES TO LAND WITH ELITALIANA.

Lease Corporation International (“LCI”), the aviation division of the Libra Group, has today completed the transition of a Leonardo AW139 helicopter to enter service with Elitaliana S.r.l. (“Elitaliana”) in Italy.The helicopter, which is being converted for full emergency medical services (EMS) operations from Oil and Gas (O&G) operations, is the second of its type operated by Elitaliana. It enters service alongside three AW169 helicopters delivered by LCI in 2016, 2017 and 2018, operating from Elitaliana’s EMS bases in Rome and the Lazio region. The AW139 was transported to Italy from Malaysia following a long-term lease from LCI to Weststar Aviation Services (“Weststar”) – the largest offshore helicopter operator in South East Asia.This is the latest in a series of successful transitions that LCI has performed, which also include the movement of another AW139 helicopter from Malaysia to Nigeria.Crispin Maunder, Executive Chairman of Lease Corporation International, said: “LCI has worked with numerous customers to successfully augment their operations by transitioning helicopters between operators, sectors and locations across the globe.”“Some of these transitions have involved significant changes from one role to another, ocean or air transportation, cross border tax considerations and other complexities, all of which LCI can manage seamlessly as a full-service leasing partner to operators across the globe.“Elitaliana has been a trusted partner of LCI for many years, and we are delighted to continue supporting one of Italy’s leading helicopter operators. LCI ORDERS NINE HELICOPTERS AS IT TAKES DELIVERY OF A RECORD SIX UNITS IN A MONTH TIME.

  • Contract for nine aircraft comprising AW169, AW139 and AW189 helicopters valued in excess of US$120 million
  • LCI is taking delivery of five AW169s and one AW139 from Leonardo this month
  • 49 new Leonardo helicopters delivered or on order by LCI to date

Leonardo and Lease Corporation International (LCI), the aviation division of the Libra Group, have today announced an order for an additional nine helicopters. The order is valued at over US$120 million and covers the entire family of new generation helicopters – the AgustaWestland AW139, AW169 and AW189. Deliveries will commence this year and continue into 2018.

LCI is already a major customer for Leonardo aircraft, and this latest order adds to its previous orders for the same types, which now total 49. The versatility and efficiency of the AW169, AW139 and AW189 aircraft are proving extremely popular with leading operators across the globe. A record five AW169s and one AW139 are being delivered this month, and being deployed on Search and Rescue (SAR), Maritime Pilot transfers, Emergency Medical Services, and Training and Utility missions. This clearly demonstrates the diversity and balance of LCI’s lease portfolio and its capacity to grow within all the sectors, including offshore oil and gas.

LCI’s growing fleet of helicopters are on lease to operators worldwide serving a wide range of sectors including emergency medical services, search and rescue, offshore wind power, harbour pilots and training & utility, as well as a small proportion serving oil and gas production. LCI’s helicopter fleet is currently made up of approximately 60 helicopters in service and on order, including the market-leading Leonardo AW139, AW169 and AW189 helicopters.

Leonardo-Finmeccanica: the AW169 scores further global success.

  • Five AW169 orders from Lease Corporation International and Helikorea that will be delivered in 2016 and 2017
  • Specialist Aviation Services signed a Framework Agreement for a further six AW169s with deliveries expected between 2017 and 2019
  • Agreements for nearly 150 AW169s, including firm orders, framework contracts and options, signed to date by customers worldwide

Rome, 11 October 2016 – The AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter of Leonardo-Finmeccanica further strengthened its presence in the market with orders for aircraft from operators who’ve already experienced its excellent capabilities and a new customer in the Republic of Korea. Helikorea has ordered two aircraft for Emergency Medical Service (EMS) missions in the Republic of Korea, where Leonardo has experienced significant success in recent years. Approximately 50 helicopters of various types are now in service or on order for military, parapublic and commercial roles ranging from naval applications, search and rescue, law enforcement, firefighting and VIP/corporate transportation. The contract, which also includes an option for one additional aircraft, foresees deliveries by the end of 2016.

Furthermore, Lease Corporation International (LCI), based in Ireland, signed a further contract for three additional AgustaWestland AW169s at Helitech, in Amsterdam. This is the second repeat order LCI has signed for the AW169. These particular aircraft are expected to be delivered in mid-2017. In 2016 LCI has already taken delivery of five AW169s which have gone on lease to their customers in the EMS, offshore and utility markets. In 2016 a total of 15 new AW139/AW169/AW189 helicopters have been, or will be, delivered to LCI.

At Helitech Leonardo has also signed a Framework Agreement with Specialist Aviation Services (SAS) of the UK for six additional AgustaWestland AW169s. The aircraft, expected to be delivered between 2017 and 2019, will be used to expand the SAS emergency medical service (EMS) operations across the nation and to enter the rapidly growing offshore windfarm support market. This latest agreement brings the total number of AW169s for the UK market to almost twenty.
